23 days until we begin our ride! Wow, the crunch is really on! Time to finalize details and purchase last minute supplies.
As a whole, Sea to Sea has raised over a 💵 million dollars 💵 to go towards ending the cycle of poverty!!! The Lord works in amazing ways!!! I have to admit that often I take for granted all that I've been blessed with and how little some people are surviving on. I need to remind myself when I'm struggling to bike any further, that there are people, children, starving and walking miles daily to get water. This is nothing compared to what they face daily.
Thank you everyone for your prayers and financial donations to this great cause. I haven't sent in all the donations given to me yet but I am pretty sure that I have surpassed my fundraising goal of $12000, thanks to all of you!!!
I went to Kelowna Cycle yesterday to get the majority of the required/recommended bike supplies, I spent a small fortune but I'm feeling more prepared now. I now have cycling shoes (instead of runners), front and rear flashing lights, and a rain jacket as well as a few more things! Also I am expecting the arrival of my Sea to Sea cycling jerseys/shorts early next week!
As exciting as the planning is going, worries are beginning to creep into my thoughts. I would appreciate all your prayers for peace of
Mind and strength as all the preparations come together.
Training is going pretty well, some days it's harder than others to cllimb on my bike and go. Once last week, I was supposed to bike 50km but I really didn't want to. I started biking saying to myself, "oh, I'll just do 30" but then I'd hit the 30 Mark and I'd still be debating because I knew I should do 50. Then I'd say "I'll stop at 40" but then my mind would reason well 50 is just another 10km more. So I ended up doing 50km, arguing with myself for a lot of that time. Afterwards, I was glad I had done that 50km. Encouraging news, my average speed is picking up, at least on the flatter sections 😜 When I started I was averaging barely 20km/h, now my weekly average is 25km/h!!!! I'm getting faster, and it feels great👍🏻.
As it is now June, here Is my report for May's cycling training:
Total distance travelled: 933.6km
Longest ride: 125.3km
Total Time biking: 41h 32min
Average speed: 22.9km/hr
Top average speed for a ride: 28.8km/hr
Total climbing: 3469.6m
Biggest climb in a day: 1005m
My longest routes were to Chase(102km) and to Vernon (120km) and down my "road" and back twice (125km)
❤️ 🚴❤️
God bless
