Alright, so I've committed to biking across the country with Sea to Sea. I have been praying about joining and thinking about it daily for a couple of months and I finally took the leap :) Now that I have committed, where do i start?
Now for those who know me, I like to make lists, so during the holidays I've been busy... making lists. I have made a list of how far we have to travel each week, each day. I have made a list of the supplies needed and estimated costs. I have researched and made a list of the top touring bikes and top gear. I had no idea that there were so many options. Not only do you have to choose the bike frame brand (Trek, Surly, Specialized, Kona, Masi etc.), you also have to choose the handlebars (drop bar, butterfly, flat, riser etc.), the saddle/seat (cushion, plastic, leather etc.), the tires, the gears, the brakes etc. etc. etc.
Anyways so as you can see I have a lot of decisions to make. Yesterday and today I went to a couple of bike stores to explore my options. I was even able to try a Masi CX bike out on a trainer at the one store. I was able to ride on the bike, testing out the touring style handlebars and gear shifts. I have to try to figure out which bike i will choose, but now is not the season for bikes so it is hard to find a lot of selection.
For those who don't know, our touring dates are June 26-August 31 2017. I will be going with a large group of cyclists of all ages and from all over the map. I am going on this trip because my sister is signed up and she invited me to go along with her. We will be eachother's accountability partners in the training leading up to the event, and encouragement during the trip.
I hope to keep everyone updated on the preparation and training stages and then throughout the trip. I am excited to be able to bike across this beautiful country God created, while raising awareness and funds for those living in poverty. Across the world, there are countless people who are living in poverty, and I hope to help make a small difference. Please keep me and the Sea to Sea group in your prayers in the coming months. If you are able to help financially, it would be most appreciated. Just go to the Sea to Sea website, <https://my.seatosea.org/Donate>
Thank you and God Bless

P.S. This will be one of few posts until I am able to start training in the spring.
