36 days until we are dipping our tires in the Pacific Ocean, 😮. I'm starting to feel the crunch, all the things I still need for my bike, the clothing, and training. Fundraising is going very well, thanks especially to my mom and Rommie deVos who put on a fundraiser at my church. They organized a Dinner auction - where meals were auctioned off by the plate. The meals were hosted by many different people. For example someone registered to host a meal of "boerenkail met rookwurst" for six people. One plate was auctioned off and then all the plates were sold for that amount. This fundraiser raised close to $4000!!!!!
Training is going well, although it is hard to give up my weekends for the long training rides. Last weekend I broke 💯 km in a single ride. I biked 102 km to Chase and back, the weather was sunny there and cloudy with a little rain on the way back. It took me 4 hrs and 45 minutes to do the ride and there was over 1000m of elevation climbing!!! I was tired after and wasn't sure I couldn't do more than that, However , today I biked 120 km to Vernon and back. On the way back I followed the route we'll be taking from Vernon to salmon Arm on our trip. There is one big hill on that days itinerary and while cycling all I could think was I am glad we only have to do the one way trip because I was already on km 70 when I hit that hill and I was so tired, but I did it!!! It was a beautiful ride but I forgot to put sunscreen on so I now have a nice cycling burn! I biked 120km in 6 hrs averaging 20km/hr with an elevation climbing of over 700m. I was exhausted, still am, and sore at the end of that ride! Now it's time to sign off so have a good evening everyone and enjoy your May long weekend!!!
