A good day. I was up at quarter to 6 and showed the next team how to set up for breakfast at 6:15, then I ate breakfast, and then we cleaned up breakfast (our new job). Sara and I were on our way by 7:15. After the first rest stop we caught up with Gary Bomhof, the retired pastor we had ridden with last week. We rode with him until the 2nd rest stop, where he was 'SAG'd' in to the 3rd rest stop which was located in the parking lot of a bike shop. His gears weren't shifting properly, which explains his slower speed. We crossed the highway to take a picture of the Wisconsin sign because we hadn't gotten it when we entered ( we weren't on a main road). Then we got a picture of the Michigan sign. Gary was already gone by the time we reached the bike shop rest stop so we ate lunch and continued on. The roads were like a minefield, covered with flyaways from logging trucks and little bits of rock. We caught up to Gary at the 4th rest stop and continued on with him, he treated us to a chocolate milk. It turned to a nice road for the rest of the way but at one point we had a section where the road cracks had just been filled and in the sun, those lines were very slippery and it was sketchy riding across them, as your wheel would wobble. We made it safely to camp, where the local churches provided us a delicious meal of Pasty's (meat and potatoes in a pie shell) and desserts. We have a time change again so we are now 3 hours ahead of BC time. I didn't have a chance to shower before dinner so I ate quickly and then showered before our peloton meeting.
