$12,000, a daunting amount! To start my fundraising efforts I handed out letters to all members of my church. I have been receiving donations in response. Thank you everyone! It is appreciated.
A big shout out to my mom and the staff of our family's store, Grass Root Dairies. My mom has been baking up a storm of Boterkoek (Dutch butter cake) and selling it in the store. The kind ladies on staff have been promoting the baking and it has been selling out! Call in your order $10 for a large pie of Boterkoek $8 for a slightly smaller one, and $2 for a cupcake size. So far they've been available in store from Thursday to Saturday. Thank you for all who have purchased some/donated.
Last week, I went to fabricland and bought $200 of fabric and notions. Why? Because I am making a quilt to raffle off. Details haven't been finalized yet, but I am just about finished sewing the top. I am not very good at colour choice for fabrics so I was hesitant to how it would look, but I am pleased with it so far. This is thanks to the ladies at Fabricland. Over the years I have been very pleased with the service and how helpful and interested they are.
Remaining work to do yet: sew on the borders, purchase a backing and the batting, make the sandwich (backing, batting, top), pin them together over every 3 inches, draw the quilt pattern, sew the quilt pattern, sew on the bias edge tape and voila! This is what is on my schedule for Spring Break, and my continued daily biking. Update on biking: I'm averaging 20km a day but have done as much as 31km and I'm averaging 20km/h
Thanks again everyone!
