It was so great to wake up in a warm gym, especially after going outside and realizing how cold it was there. We actually were excited to load the gear truck today because we warmed up! Getting on the road, we knew there was going to be more climbing, but we didn't know what kind of climbing, steep or gradual. The first 30km or so was a very gradual climb that had us thinking that if this was how it's going to be, it'll be a great day. It didn't become a bad day by any means, but we did get some very good climbs afterwards. We had a crosswind as well today, but thankfully, we have turned inland and were between trees almost all day. The biggest town we came across today was Miramichi and going through it we had to cross a fairly large bridge that was under construction. It was one way traffic controlled by a light and there was quite a backup of vehicles. We biked on the shoulder all the way to the start of the bridge, past all the waiting vehicles. At the bridge, we hopped on the raised sidewalk and biked up to where the light controlling traffic across was. At one point Sara (who was in front) had to stop fairly suddenly because there was a few inch jump in the sidewalk height. Unfortunately I didn't see it in time so I slammed on the brakes, but didn't stop quick enough and my tire went in between her back tire and the back rack on her bike. Thankfully, we didn't fall or wreck our bikes. We continued on, taking it easy because it was very windy and there was a lot of traffic and not a super high railing. When we reached the light, we hopped in front of the traffic, joining Peter and Marja, and Alice. When the light changed, we took the lane and made our way across. There was a semi behind us that kept us moving, he seemed impatient. We made it safely across and to the next rest stop. We ate lunch there. After this point my back started to ache, which made it a little tough but not too bad. The ball of my left foot also developed a hot spot, so I had to stretch it often. When we received the map for today's yesterday there was a huge jump in the elevation at the end; it went up like 400m within less than a km and then virtually straight down. We were a little worried, as was the advancement team. They marked the entire route yesterday so they could check out this hill: it didn't exist😀. The last 20km was relatively flat and definitely did not have that huge hill. We finished and arrived at the Camping Coop Parc Daigle in Saint-Louis de Kent. I had a nice hot shower after setting up the tent, while Sara went for a swim in the pool. I then took photos of some of the different things that happen in camp after a ride. After dinner, a local man brought a cooler full of crabs for us to eat, I didn't have any but there was a large group of people eating them. I can say one thing, my sir bones are about ready to be done sitting.
