well hello again everyone! It has been a very long time.
After I finished my sea to sea trip, which was amazing, my body felt the need to recuperate, it had some wear and tear from so much use in such a short time. Also within a week of finishing the trip, I moved and started a new job! I was busy.
I then delayed getting my bike back together after being boxed up. When I finally got around to putting it back together, I must have done something wrong because I had cables rubbing tires! I left it thinking I’d get it serviced. But, I procrastinated. I came up with a multitude of excuses, including- I don’t need to exercise because I biked 7000 km this summer (turns out, it’s not how many kilometres you do within 2 months, it’s doing it on a regular basis year round, who knew? 😜)anyways, days turned into weeks which turned into months. Anyways I’m pretty much back to where I was pre-biking last year, which is pretty discouraging.
As spring has arrived and I’m driving through beautiful scenery, my legs started to ache with the desire to bike again. I had gone to the gym a few times to bike, but it is not the same! A couple of weeks ago I thought about checking my bike out, but then I didn’t know where the key was to unlock our bikes (Sara and I). Finally on Thursday I searched high and low and found the key. I unlocked my bike and then compared it to Sara’s to see where my cables had gone wrong. I figured it out and fixed it. I couldn’t ride it yet because I needed to pump up my tires, but Sara had the bike pump and she was working. Friday, I took my bike for a test run. I wobbled so much I thought my bike was falling apart! I gained my balance and the rhythm of biking. My bike was still rattling so I just biked up and down our quiet streets. I biked about 5 km and what a glorious feeling!

After that ride I went at my bike and found a loose screw by the handlebars and tightened it. Saturday was raining and I was tired so I didn’t bike (I know, excuses, excuses!). Today I got my bike out again and it didn’t rattle! I went down streeets and around the little lake a few times , which is why I was slower it’s a walking trail so you’re not supposed to bike full speed. I even climbed a little hill! (I’ll have to work on building those muscles again!) it felt so great to bike, and I hope to keep it up. I’m even hoping to bike to work sometimes, especially with gas prices so high!!! The only problem is it’s 25km to work one way so I’d have to get up on time, which, I guess shouldn’t be a problem since we were up early all summer last year!
So the goal is to get back in shape, and to bike a lot more for errands and such.
I’m not sure how much I’ll blog but until next time... may God bless you!
